Mount Vernon Treatment Centre opens its doors
The Mount Vernon Treatment Centre was officially opened by the departing chair of the Hillingdon Hospital Trust (HHT), Anthony Valentine JP, on Friday 31st July. The ceremony was attended by management, clinical staff and others who played a key role in the transformation of the previous facility into a modern, spacious treatment centre for patients in the local area and further afield.
Designed, built and financed by BHH LIFT on behalf of HHT, the building was completed and handed over on 2nd February this year following a two year development programme.
A period of intensive commissioning has ensured that the centre now offers elective surgery procedures in its four state-of-the-art operating theatres, as well as a number of outpatient services. Using the latest technology, patients are able to check themselves in within the spacious reception area, while the cafe offers patients and staff a central point to meet and relax.

Lord Darzi opens Alexandra Avenue polyclinic
The Alexandra Avenue Health and Social Care Centre in Harrow was officially designated as a polyclinic in June by Professor the Lord Darzi of Denham KBE , the former health minister and pioneer of the polyclinic model.
Clean, modern and spacious, the Alexandra Avenue centre offers over 21 co-located services, in sharp contrast to the previously disjointed services spread out across the local area.
Over 50,000 local patients within South Harrow have the opportunity to access services including Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), paediatric therapies, ultrasound, community dental services and full time podiatry services. Now as a polyclinic, these services have been joined by a GP practice, The Ridgeway Surgery, which offers extended hours of 8am to 8pm to both registered and un-registered patients.
NRCs transform services for adults with learning disabilities
A BHH LIFT-led project bringing three Neighbourhood Resource Centres (NRCs) to Harrow has come to a close with all three now open and operational. The £7.5 million project was carried out on behalf of Harrow Council who are now providing services from the facilities.
Located at Byron Park, Kenmore Road and Vaughan Road, each centre has been individually designed to fit in with its local surroundings and provides a contemporary and spacious environment for adults with learning disabilities, their carers and other health and social care workers to learn new skills, socialise and access resources within the borough.
Co-locating these services under one roof is expected to transform the way that Harrow Council meets the needs of adults with learning disabilities in the local community.
